Hi, I’m Iain.

Some photographers pick up a camera and learn to see. I spent twenty years learning to see - then picked up a camera.

There’s a moment at the end of every session, when the lights are packed away and a family is gathered around a screen seeing their portraits for the first time. That moment - the sharp intake of breath, the quiet “oh” - is why I do this work.

Not the session itself. Not even the print. The moment something created today becomes an emotional memory.

I’m a fine art portrait photographer based in the Otway region serving families across Geelong and surrounds.

Before the camera, there were two decades spent working at the heart of the creative industry - from finished artist to leading and shaping teams of creative professionals, collaborating with people across the board. That background isn’t incidental to my photography. It’s inseparable from it.

On location I bring this to bear. Shaping light, composition and helping guide with friendly direction. Because great portraiture doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built, carefully and intentionally.

BTW: My first camera arrived as an unprompted gift from my wife. She’s always been the brains in our outfit.

On walls, not hard drives.

I believe a portrait only lives when it’s on a wall, in a home, where it can be seen every day. Not archived. Forgotten. Stuck in a phone.

Every decision made throughout a session - the lighting, composition, the moment chosen to press the shutter - is made with the finished wall art in mind. Canvas and framed prints that are crafted to last, and designed to mean more with every year that passes.

Let’s create something lasting.
