Artist - Amber Isles

This is what Triple J Unearth had to say about this band;

Amber Isles is an independent five-piece band forged from the fires within unique musicians and brought together by the working arteries of Melbourne. Effects-driven rock and folky ballads fuse with post-rock-esque instrumental sections and impressionistic songwriting. After three years gigging, writing and promoting shows independently, the band are set to release their sophomore record...

This band came to my attention one sunny late-lunch afternoon in the Bourke Street Mall. As I strolled through lazy pedestrians there came a wistful cloud of music.

It was Max Fotheringham (lead singer) busking solo. Intrigued I followed the tune. For a few mintues I sat in shade on the stone steps of the GPO building. Transported far away to lands far from these tram lines.

During a break in his busking I introduced myself to Max. After some initial awkward though friendly chit chat (let’s face it - it’s always awkward) Max reached out a few days later & we arranged to make some pictures for the band.

Due to their slightly ethereal music, using dark shadow & out of focus, I wanted to echo that unreachable distance in pictures.

Obviously there can be no dark without the light. So we did some of that too.

Unfortunately, as is the nature of bands, Amber Isles have been silent for some time.

Fortunately you can still listen to them on Soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/amberisles
